basics
The basics
- Was Beyond Chorus formerly known as Lyrical?
- Yes. Beyond Chorus is the new name for Lyrical. It is the same app and service: existing accounts, subscriptions, app installs, and lyrical.glass links continue to work.
- What is Beyond Chorus?
- Beyond Chorus shows song lyrics in time with music you are already hearing. Use it at a concert, in a car, on a phone, or on supported AI and XR glasses. It displays the words but does not play the music.
- Is Beyond Chorus free?
- The apps are free on the App Store and Google Play, with no daily limit on how many songs you can follow. Beyond Chorus Pro is an optional subscription at 4.99 US dollars per month or 49.99 per year.
- What does Beyond Chorus Pro add?
- Pro adds phoneless Tesla lyrics after initial iPhone or Android setup, translation into 10 languages, playlist export to Apple Music and YouTube Music, recaps without a watermark, and multiple saved glasses profiles. You can show a translation in place of the original lyric or below it.
- Is Beyond Chorus a karaoke app?
- No. Beyond Chorus does not score vocals, remove them, or record your singing. It shows lyrics in time with audio playing around you.
- Does Beyond Chorus play music?
- No. Beyond Chorus is not a streaming service. It follows what you are already listening to, whether that is a live band, Apple Music, or a car stereo.
- Does it need an internet connection?
- Yes. Lyrics are fetched per song and LiveSync updates arrive over the network, so an offline device cannot follow along.
hardware
Devices and glasses
- Which phones does Beyond Chorus run on?
- You need iOS 17 or later on iPhone, or Android 8 or later. We recommend iOS 26 or Android 14 and above. CarPlay Live Activities require iOS 26 or later.
- Which glasses does Beyond Chorus support?
- AI glasses: Even Realities G2 (also written EvenG2), Meta Ray-Ban Display, and Google AI Glasses on Android. XR glasses: XREAL Air, Air 2, Air 2 Pro, One, One Pro and Project Aura; Apple Vision Pro; Android XR devices including Samsung Galaxy XR; TCL RayNeo Air 3, Air 3s, Air 3s Pro and Air 4 Pro; and Rokid Max and Max 2.
- Are Google AI Glasses and Android XR the same thing?
- No. They use different apps and connection methods. Beyond Chorus supports both; check the guide for your device.
- Why are my USB-C glasses not showing anything?
- Check that your phone supports video over USB-C, then try the cable that came with the glasses. A charge-only cable cannot carry video. Reopen Beyond Chorus after connecting.
- Is there an Apple Vision Pro app?
- Yes. Install the visionOS app on the headset. It handles recognition and LiveSync itself, so you do not need an iPhone nearby.
live
Concerts and LiveSync
- How does Beyond Chorus keep up at a live show?
- Two ways. In manual mode you pick the song from the artist's setlist and nudge the timing yourself. In LiveSync, the show's front-of-house operator advances every line and your device follows in real time.
- Do I need the app to follow a LiveSync show?
- No. Audience members can join in a mobile browser with the show's short code. The app is optional.
- Why doesn't Beyond Chorus rely on song recognition at a concert?
- Crowd noise and live arrangements can make recognition unreliable. Choose the song from the setlist and adjust the lyric timing yourself.
- What if the band plays something not on the setlist?
- Search the artist's songs by title or by a line of the lyrics, then pick the track. Beyond Chorus adds it to the running setlist for the show.
- How fast does LiveSync reach the audience?
- Usually less than half a second after the operator cues a line. A slow or unstable connection can add delay.
cars and lyrics
Cars, lyric sources, and recognition
- Can I use Beyond Chorus while driving?
- Car lyrics are for passengers or a parked car. Drivers must not read or interact with the display while driving.
- How do lyrics get onto a car screen?
- Open car-lyric.com in the car browser and pair your phone. Beyond Chorus recognises the song and sends the lyrics to the screen. With Pro, connect Tesla once through the iPhone or Android app, then follow lyrics directly in the car browser without phone listening. Phone-paired mode stays free.
- Is there a free lyrics app for a car screen?
- Yes. Beyond Chorus shows synced lyrics on a car display for free, with no daily song limit or subscription. The phone recognises the sound, so it works with Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Bluetooth, USB, and radio playback.
- Where do the lyrics come from?
- Lyrics come from Musixmatch under licence. We check our curated lyric files first.
- Are the lyrics official, or crowd-sourced?
- On the Musixmatch path, lyrics are licensed from rights holders. The supplied words, line breaks, and timing are used as provided by the licensed source.
- Does Beyond Chorus store lyrics or my listening history?
- Lyrics are cached only briefly, roughly six hours, and cleared when the app goes to the background. Beyond Chorus does not build a permanent lyrics library on your device, and licensed lyrics are never persisted at all.
- How does song recognition work?
- On iPhone, Beyond Chorus uses ShazamKit to recognise music through the microphone. It can also read the song playing in Apple Music on your phone. Recognition usually takes about ten seconds of clear audio.
